“What if we created a space where people could
have a joyful experience using expired or tester
cosmetics that would otherwise be discarded?”
This
question led to our core concept: “Let’s open a
pop-up where people can get hands-on and
experience the tactile joy of playing and creating
with
discarded cosmetics.” From there, we began planning
an experiential space to bring this vision to life.
Space for MZ
Millennials and Gen Z prioritize value-driven and
conscious consumption over mere novelty, with a
particular emphasis on environmental
sustainability.
The ‘Zero Waste’ movement and
upcycling have become ‘hip’ cultural practices, and
this generation actively seeks out, experiences,
and shares spaces that embrace these themes.
To create a space where this audience can feel a sense
of both fulfillment and fun, we selected three design
concepts: KITSCH, ANALOGUE, and ONE POINT.
We found a connection between the various textures of
cosmetics—powder, liquid, gel, balm—and the materials
found in a science lab.
This inspired our spatial motif: a
‘LAB’ where visitors can use various experimental tools
to scrape, crush, and mix the cosmetics, enjoying a
delicate, hands-on, creative sensation.
RE-PLAY LAb
The name combines ‘RE’ from reuse/recycle and
‘PLAY.’
It is a space where discarded cosmetics are
reused and upcycled, given new value as tools for play.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
“While this is an experiential space for eco-friendly
content, we used intuitive and trendy visuals
rather
than a serious tone to stimulate the curiosity of the MZ
generation and clearly express the space’s concept.”
CONTENTS IDEA
“We will deliver an enjoyable, sustainable experience
to the MZ generation
by arranging zones for lab
experiments, drawing, play, and selfies.”
POP UP STORE DESIGN
“By creating a diverse experiential space through
new and unexpected presentations,
we will create a
place that the MZ generation will #SeekOut,
#SpendTimeTo, #Record, and #ShowOff.”
