Summary
In September 2024, the brand “MIMO by MAMONDE” was launched, encapsulating the meanings of “My,” “Minimal,” and “Mamonde.” Currently, the brand’s visual direction remains ambiguous, relying on rather literal motifs such as flowers and glass, and lacking clear visual seeds that express the brand target and concept. To address this, we propose utilizing generative AI to extract ingredient shots and main visual images that align with the brand concept, allowing these assets to be effectively used across various digital platforms, including Instagram and product detail pages.

To express the concept of “A Floral World Viewed Through Beauty,” we utilized Midjourney and Adobe Firefly to visualize a floral world reflected within a transparent brand symbol. While the outcome successfully captured the floral essence, we observed certain overlaps with the existing Mamonde brand concept. Therefore, we plan to adjust the overall color palette and mood to better reflect the youthful and vibrant energy of Gen Z, ensuring a more distinct identity for MIMO by Mamonde.

The second visual test focused on capturing the characteristics of MIMO’s core target audience—Gen Z consumers in their teens and twenties. Imagining customers who appear sparkling, transparent, and confident when engaging with MIMO, we refined our Midjourney prompt structure by incorporating key elements such as: [Screen Composition: a micro shot / a close-up shot] [Theme Keywords: shining, glitter] [Effect: high-realistic] [Mood: dreamy aesthetic] Although the visuals are still in development, this test successfully establishes a consistent and emotionally resonant mood that embodies the concept of “Shining brighter than anyone else in this very moment,” proposing a new, radiant visual direction for the MIMO brand.

Review
Although I initially had a vague sense of fear toward AI technology, participating in the AI Expedition and learning to use Midjourney, Firefly, and Runway step by step turned out to be an incredibly engaging experience. The unexpected outcomes generated by different prompts often sparked new creative inspiration, and the process of repeatedly testing and refining visuals to achieve consistent imagery helped to solidify design concepts and enhance productivity in a meaningful way. While Generative AI continues to advance rapidly, I’ve realized that the human touch of designers—our planning, intuition, and sense of aesthetics—remains indispensable for building effective prompt structures and achieving polished, high-quality results. Looking ahead, I plan to actively explore and integrate AI technologies that best fit my work, developing my own creative workflow that blends human sensibility with AI innovation. Through this, I hope to enrich and expand the creative potential of design, using AI not as a replacement, but as a powerful collaborator in the creative process.
