OSULLOC’s brand name comes from the exclamation “Oh!” when one encounters the tenacious nature of green tea that stays green even in the snow. SULLOC means “snow green,” inspired by the image of green tea leaves covered in snow on Jeju Island. It is said that tea should be enjoyed with all five senses: the calm sound of pouring, the color drawn from the tea leaves, its fragrance, the warmth felt by touch, and finally, the taste. Just as tea is enjoyed through all five senses, OSULLOC’s spaces are designed to awaken them
The Beauty of Slowness
The interior is painted in mist gray, symbolizing Jeju Island’s fog, and dark gray to represent basalt. The décor features a somewhat rough yet natural finish, along with photos and videos capturing OSULLOC’s origins in Jeju. Fixtures with soft, curved forms evoke the shape of tea trees and fields. In this space, those who love Jeju are reminded of their own unique memories of the island. This sensibility continues through to OSULLOC’s 30+ varieties of blended teas.
OSULLOC in Daehakro was designed with two keywords in mind: sensibility and laid-back. The Hongdae branch reflects its university-town setting with a library-themed interior, while the Seoul branch at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art was designed with a focus on culture and design contribution. Each OSULLOC Tea House reflects the unique characteristics of its surroundings, offering customers a slightly different atmosphere at every location.
