Summary
Hanyul sought the meaning of Yul-ryeo (律呂)—the firm balance of healthy skin—and found its answer in the past, in the vitality of a wise mother’s cherished pine tree. Since fallen, brown pine needles are more effective than green ones, the story centers on brown needles and transforms that narrative into design.
Concept
The color of Hanyul’s packaging and containers reflects the moment when the raw ingredients are in their optimal state. For example, in the Optimizing Serum, the brown hue of pine needles is intuitively applied to both the package and the container.
The containers are modern reinterpretations of traditional forms, featuring a simple square-shaped body with a rounded cap. Rather than a glossy, luxurious finish, they feature a calming, natural texture that conveys comfort and simplicity.
The product-making process reflects Hanyul’s dedication to delivering Yul-ryeo. Hanyul’s natural paper is made from mulberry roots grown in Goesan, North Chungcheong Province, and was entrusted to Master Ahn Chi-yong, an artisan of Hanji (traditional Korean handmade paper), to carry on the legacy of Korean paper craftsmanship. Through this process, the brand’s commitment to Yul-ryeo—a healthy, firm balance for the skin—is expressed in the solid, thoughtful design of the packaging.
