It also serves as a research site for Mamonde, a brand driven by the slogan “Invented from Flowers.” Here, Mamonde studies and documents the flowers grown on-site to better understand their potential in skincare.
The Story of Camellia
Camellias are remarkably resilient plants that bloom in the cold of winter—making them the core ingredient of Mamonde’s anti-aging product line. As camellias typically thrive in warmer climates, Osan’s cold winters are unsuitable for them to grow naturally. The Camellia is the second chapter in the ongoing collaboration between Mamonde and the Osan Botanical Garden. It chronicles the process of collecting ingredients from Camellia Village (Dongbaek Village) on Jeju Island, along with the relocation of camellia trees to Osan. The record also includes photographs of botanical garden landscapers tending to the trees, as well as close-up shots capturing the camellia’s blossoming and withering—beautiful moments from the plant’s life cycle.
