Summary
In 2016, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the birth of “ABC Ginseng Cream,” the very beginning of Sulwhasoo, the brand introduced Jaeumsaeng 1966 Limited, showcasing its 50-year heritage. Inspired by the original ABC Ginseng Cream released in 1966, the new container is shaped from “baekja,” Korean white celadon. The elegance of the perfume line, along with the subtle luster of the celadon, reflects harmonious beauty and the depth of Korean tradition.
Concept
In addition to the elegant container, Sulwhasoo includes a spatula carved from white jade, symbolizing purity and eternal beauty. From 1966 to 2016, the brand marks this milestone year with a limited edition that embodies years of dedication and care. Through the Jaeumsaeng 1966 Limited Edition, customers can experience holistic beauty—Sulwhasoo’s philosophy of balancing inner and outer beauty.
Another highlight of the limited edition is a wooden case created in collaboration with master artisan Jo Hwa-sin, an Important Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 55, specializing in “somokjang” (traditional Korean woodcraft). Made from natural wood, the case expresses nature’s authentic colors and Korea’s history. Traditional techniques such as tongue-and-groove and rebated joints are used in all four corners, representing the culmination of practical elegance and timeless craftsmanship.
