‘BEAUTY FROM YOUR CULTURE’ is Sulwhasoo’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, rooted in the belief that a more meaningful culture emerges when tradition and modernity coexist. As part of this program, Sulwhasoo discovers talented young artists through its Art Challenge, produces limited-edition products featuring their work, and donates a portion of the proceeds to cultural heritage sites in need of preservation, as well as to the Korea Culture Foundation.
Concept
This year’s featured artist is collage artist SAKI (Kwon Eun-jin). Her latest work draws inspiration from dancheong, a traditional Korean decorative coloring on wooden architecture. The patterns and five traditional colors of dancheong are reinterpreted through her unique lyrical palette, lively patterns, and expressive calligraphy. These elements are applied to the Yoonjo Essence packaging, allowing consumers to enjoy traditional Korean patterns in a playful and engaging way. To best express the collage style, DIY stickers were created in various configurations to encourage personal customization. The white containers, reminiscent of baekja (Korean white porcelain), serve as blank canvases for users to complete with their own sensibilities.
