‘Soft landing on my skin – Blue Azulene Cloud’
This is a new type of water to bubble type toner released by Mamonde, which is steadfastly loved for its rose water.
Developed for sensitive skin that is easily irritated when using water toner in the usual way of soaking a cotton pad and wiping it off, this product is characterized by a fluffy bubble foam that can be applied directly to the skin, so it can be used alone without a pad, and is characterized by low friction and no dripping.
Concept
We found the product’s nickname, ‘Cloud Toner’—a comparison of its bubble texture to clouds—to be playful and evocative, and we sought to express this concept in the product design and visuals.
The visuals emphasize the formula’s natural blue hue, which comes from the azulene extracted from chamomile flowers, and incorporates distinctive elements like bubbles, clouds, and the sky.
We aimed for a calm, serene aesthetic, allowing the product’s primary soothing benefit to be felt through the imagery alone.
The product design is visually linked to our existing Blue Chamomile Cream but uses a soft blue and white color scheme to evoke the toner’s light, cloud-like texture and its hydrating, soothing properties.
A functional grid layout was applied to the packaging to clearly emphasize ‘Soothing’ as the key benefit and to highlight the main ingredients.
Toners are often used in large quantities and consumed quickly. To accommodate this, we developed a refill pouch for continuous use.
The pouch is made from a semi-transparent PE material, allowing the natural blue color of the azulene to show through while creating a clean, minimalist look.
This refill pouch is a sustainable packaging option, reducing plastic usage by 88% compared to the 150ml primary container and offering high recyclability.
The main toner bottle was also designed with refilling in mind; its pump is easy to remove, and the wide opening ensures a simple, mess-free process.
