2024 story A cinema _ 청년공감독립영화제
AMOREPACIFICOct 02, 2024
Summary
The second meeting after last year,
In the heat of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), a festival for all film lovers,
we held the second independent art film screening, story A cinema.
Concept
This edition of story A cinema was themed “Empathy with Youth”, featuring five keywords: Youth, Contemplation, Comfort, Growth, and Challenge.
A total of 24 short films were screened across 50 sessions, including two special screenings by young directors supported by the [Amorepacific Empathy Foundation x Korea National University of Arts], and 22 short films curated in collaboration with the [Independent Art Film Distribution and Support Center – Indie Ground].
As issues such as youth isolation, depression, and other mental health concerns have gained increasing attention, the Amorepacific Empathy Foundation partnered with the Korea National University of Arts to support student-led film projects.
From among 41 proposals submitted by students, two films—<Tears Tears> and <Growing Eyes>—were selected for production support. These meaningful works, completed in 2023, were screened this year at story A cinema.
In addition, continuing from last year, we once again collaborated with Indie Ground to curate selections around relevant themes.
Indie Ground, an organization dedicated to supporting Korean independent art films and expanding their audience, contributed 21 short films to this year’s program.
Though short in length, these films are powerful in message—offering sincere stories, artistic value, and glimpses into the overlooked corners of daily life.
We hope that audiences find inspiration in this space, and that *story A cinema*, our independent art film screening series, will continue to be held annually.
