Summary
The external banners that are thrown away after the Amore Store runs the brand pop-up store are event
wastes that are environmentally problematic as well as disposal costs. This project was prepared to
find a way to use these event wastes, such as external banners, without discarding them.
Purpose
Amorepacific, which leads the way in ESG management to make the world more beautiful, sought to create services that enable customers to share a sustainable lifestyle together.
To achieve this, we considered the following three key points:
First, practicing the 3Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle. To align with carbon-neutral ESG practices, we will actively utilize discarded banners as event waste.
Second, minimizing the use of secondary materials. To prevent the generation of secondary waste, we will maximize the use of discarded banners and minimize the use of secondary materials.
Third, we will promote Amore’s ESG activities by providing customers with upcycled products made from waste materials through promotions.
Promotion
For example, on June 5th, World Environment Day, Amore Seongsu conducted a promotion where customers who purchased products received upcycled shopping bags made from discarded banners.
This allowed customers to use reusable Banner Bags instead of single-use shopping bags, directly experiencing Amore’s ESG initiatives.
The banner bag was modeled after the outdoor
banner used
in the 2023 Christmas campaign,
along with banner bags and umbrellas.
Design
The naming of the upcycled banner bags is “Banner Bag,” aiming to intuitively convey that they are bags made from banners.
The slogan “Make a better world, make a banner bag” centers on the idea that upcycling into a “Banner Bag” contributes to creating a better world.
Given that the shopping bags made from discarded banners feature diverse designs and colors, the naming and slogan for the banner bags were kept simple with monochromatic colors and a clean font.
All simulations were created using the generative AI program FIREFLY.
Upcycling using discarded banners can be expanded beyond banner bags to include umbrellas, card wallets, pouches, and various other products.
We hope this project will serve as an opportunity to communicate Amorepacific’s carbon reduction efforts to customers by developing it into a sustainable ESG activity rather than a one-time event.
