Summary
innisfree’s new store is designed to harmonize with both the external characteristics of the Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu retail complex in China and the identity of the brand. The project began with the goal of conveying the brand’s essence through design. As a result, innisfree’s second global cosmetic store and café was envisioned as a “natural rest area in the city.”
Concept
The store features a vertical garden column that rises from the first-floor cosmetic retail space to the café on the second and third floors, serving as the store’s focal point. Stone slabs and grass used as flooring on the first floor give customers the sense that nature is close at hand. Outdoor terrace furniture, marble chairs, and solar-powered stands further enhance the store’s visibility and atmosphere. Additionally, a hands-on experience—mapping Jeju Island—helps customers feel more connected to the brand’s origin.
While the lighting design of innisfree’s flagship store at Hongyi Plaza in Shanghai is inspired by Jeju’s Gotjawal nightscape, known as the paradise of fireflies, the pendant lights at the Taikoo Li store in Chengdu similarly evoke the glow of fireflies, effectively expressing the concept of “an eco-green repose in the city.”
