Healing Times for Kids
힐링타임즈가 선보이는 어린이와 가족을 위한 아트 프로젝트
AMOREPACIFICMay 14, 2024
Summary
“Healing Times for Kids” is a reinterpretation of “Healing Times Exhibition” through the eyes of children,
offering not only the experience of the original “Healing Times” contents offline but also the activity of
creating one’s own drawing works by utilizing discarded cosmetics.
This exhibition planning, which discovers new artistic possibilities in ‘what is discarded,’
aims to awaken thoughts on the environment and art.
Background
This project was initiated with the intention of giving new life to cosmetics that have outlived their original purpose.
As a new alternative to discarded cosmetics and the “no kids zone” issue, we planned an experiential exhibition that both children and adults can enjoy together.
By combining the company’s asset, “Healing Times” content, we propose a new art project that can only be enjoyed offline.
While there have been many recycling activities using empty containers, this is the first case in which expired contents are directly utilized.
We hope this proposal will expand the scope of sustainable activities.
To materialize the exhibition,
we set Story A Busan as a virtual exhibition
space and proceeded with the design work.
[Layout]
The exhibition space is divided into two main areas: the “Artwork Activity Space (Atelier, Color Playground)” and the “Healing Times Content Experience Space.”
The reception space at the entrance of the exhibition hall welcomes visitors, followed by the atelier,
where visitors can enjoy original Healing Times content and try drawing; the Color Playground, a collaborative space;
and the Plate A exhibition space, where visitors can experience slime content and the company’s upcycling initiatives.
We have designed an exhibition that encourages creative experiences through playful approaches that engage the senses.
In this exhibition, Healing Times content can be experienced through the five senses or through drawing and artworks.
The green-marked areas indicate drawing and artwork spaces,
while the pink-marked areas are spaces where visitors can experience Healing Times through sight, sound, and touch.
[Contents]
Entrance
A space with a pop-up entrance, information about the
exhibition, and leaflets. Brochures are available in
a dispenser, allowing visitors to take one at a time.
Reception
A space for exhibition guidance, providing full-body
suits and materials for drawing activities, enhancing
immersion in the exhibition and adding a touch of
fun through the simple ritual of putting on a gown.
Atelier
A space where you can create your own drawings using cosmetics with various textures and colors.
Using the canvas and used cosmetics prepared on the large desk, draw and complete your artwork in a frame.
Drawing Paper
Drawing paper is provided with used cosmetics and is available in two types:
with and without designs. The background color is designed to complement red-toned cosmetics.
Color Play Ground #1
A collaborative activity where participants use discarded cosmetics to color designs of uniform size painted on one wall.
In the atelier space, participants color designs of thumbnail size and attach them to designated walls to create stunning works of art.
This encourages participants to record and share their work, leading to the creation of new artwork.
Color Play Ground #2
A graffiti workspace designed to maximize the narrow, elongated space, where you can enjoy
Healing Times content on large monitors and headphones while freely drawing on the walls and floor.
The Original Contents By <HEALING TIMES>
An immersive ASMR experience space where you can enjoy Healing Times’ original content,
either with large-screen viewing together or individual viewing on small monitors and headphones.
Contents Lab
An experiential space where visitors can create their own ASMR using cream-textured slime.
By PLATE_A
This is a promotional space for our company’s public welfare activities,
showcasing various products made from upcycled materials under the brand name PLATE_A.
In Closing
This exhibition concept originated from my personal struggles with disposing of items I couldn’t bring myself to throw away, and the challenges faced by working mothers like myself who struggle to find places to take their children on weekends.
Through this project, which addresses social issues such as discarded cosmetics and no-kids zones using the innovative approach of “artwork,” we aimed to spark reflection on the “new purposes” of everyday objects that have outlived their original use.
As a mother and a designer, I will continue to strive to contribute to making the world a more beautiful and better place through all our creative activities.
