Summary
Fragrance products were inspired by the wisdom of Korean ancestors, who understood the logic of life by purifying their minds and observing nature in its moderated state—through elements like the plum tree, pine tree, camellia, and bamboo. Scented candles made with a porcelain-like texture and potpourri express the spirit of Sulwhasoo, which has always placed importance on harmony and balance.
Concept
The idea was to present the Korean traditional culture of fragrance, so the design motif was borrowed from traditional objects associated with scent. This effort is evident in the shape of the plate made for the scented candles, and the smooth lines of the container were inspired by antique candle holders used by ancestors in the past. Personal accoutrements like “hyangnang,” or perfume pouches, convey the idea of elegant beauty, drawing inspiration from the shape of the hanbok “jeogori,” the traditional jacket worn by Korean women.
