Summary
This project aims to expand the use of plastic upcycling materials (Plate A) to a wider range
to convey their value and use as props and objects that can feel daily life and personal lifestyle.
Background
As the desire for emotional stability through plant cultivation grows in everyday spaces such as homes and offices, we are entering the era of “companion plants,” following the rise of “companion animals.”
However, in contrast to this trend, we have found that many plants are being neglected due to issues such as residue left after watering,
limited space, and their appearance clashing with interior design when their condition deteriorates.
IDEA
We developed a plant furniture design that promotes healthy plant growth while enhancing interior aesthetics.
The collection includes a plant stand and base, designed as a universal solution compatible with standard 15cm pots.
Design Point
The base and stand can be used separately or combined.
To improve ventilation inside the planter,
the contact surface with the bottom of the
pot was designed with a 20T thickness,
providing stable support for weights exceeding 10kg.
Initially, we were concerned that the diverse colors of the flakes might complicate the design.
However, as the design progressed, we realized that this diversity actually enhanced uniqueness and played a key role in highlighting the upcycling concept.
In addition, no separate coloring or post-processing was applied to the metal mesh or folded pieces, in order to maintain overall design consistency.
