A visual object with vegan and eco-friendly values
We created an object that reflects the values of The Amore Seongsu Brush and completed the product visuals. The Amore Seongsu Brushes are made with ash wood handles and premium vegan synthetic hair, and are all vegan-certified, making them eco-friendly products. In addition, each brush has been designed by a professional artist to optimize the shape of the brush for each area of the body, encouraging you to find your most beautiful self by using the holy water brushes. We wanted to capture these features and values in the visuals.
Part 1: Creating Photography Objects Using Discarded Containers
Since fully vegan-certified brush lines are rare, we wanted to emphasize that aspect.
We thought it would be meaningful to incorporate the value of eco-friendliness as an extension of the Amore Seongsu Vegan Brush series.
Initially, we considered using natural and plant elements to convey an eco-friendly atmosphere, but since these are commonly used in product visuals, we decided to approach it differently.
Product development and design inevitably generate a significant amount of waste, including plastics and samples. We thought it would be interesting to repurpose these wasted samples into objects.
This approach not only reduces waste from purchasing single-use props for photoshoots but also reinterprets easily consumed and discarded items as artistic objects, an idea we found intriguing.
We primarily utilized pre-molded samples from suppliers, color-sampled containers, fixture samples for interior design, and leftover ribbons from packaging material tests.
Additionally, we incorporated surrounding materials such as foam sheets for packaging containers and tape used for wrapping interior fixtures.
Since we were creating objects from discarded materials, we were careful to ensure they didn’t simply look like waste.
Therefore, each object was designed with at least one color accent, and we actively used ribbons and tape to create structurally complete and well-defined forms.
To add visual diversity, we also incorporated a variety of materials like plastic, metal, stone, and acrylic.
Part 2. Visual Production Using Generative AI
Inspired by the fact that the 15 different brushes each have a unique, optimized form, we thought it would be interesting to create 15 distinct objects to correspond with them.
Initially, we planned to create all 15 objects by hand, but at Sangwoo’s suggestion, we decided to generate some using AI.
Using generative AI allowed us to create visuals in a new way while reducing the same type of waste, which aligned perfectly with our original intention.
The combination of eco-friendly and vegan concepts with the latest AI technology was also fascinating.
Eco-friendliness is often associated with analog methods that don’t harm the natural environment—a response to problems exacerbated by technological progress.
Creating visual content with images made by cutting-edge AI felt both ironic and intriguing.
Therefore, we proceeded by physically creating some objects from recycled materials and compositing them with others generated through AI.
Initially, we generated images using prompts with keywords like “plastic” and “trash” to align with our concept.
However, as we had feared when making the physical objects, the results looked too much like garbage or were stylistically distant from what we had created.
For the second round, we used Midjourney’s Blend mode to combine two of our photographed images to generate the output.
From the generated images, we selected those that resembled plastic containers or items our company might produce.
Additionally, we photographed the background in the same setting as the original object photoshoot and then composited the generated images to match the visual tone and atmosphere of the original shots.
To expand the potential applications for the images, we used Photoshop to upscale them, then carefully arranged and composited them with separately photographed product images to create the final result.
The process of extending our work beyond product development to create visual content linked to the product’s core characteristics was meaningful.
Furthermore, exploring the same concept through different methods and utilizing a new technology like generative AI was an intriguing experience.
The unique, unconventional objects blended seamlessly with the generative AI work, allowing us to use them in the final visuals.
This process using generative AI has proven to be a valuable workflow that we can apply to future visual content creation.
