Mise en scène Perfect Serum x Crayon Shin-chan Collaboration
Summary
Mise-en-scène Perfect Serum, the top hair serum for 11 years, is teaming up with the popular character
Shin-chan for a special collaboration. This partnership brings something fresh for loyal customers and
offers a fun experience for Shin-chan fans, especially teens and young adults. The project combines the
brand’s strong identity with the cute character, creating a product everyone will want to collect.




Project Concept
This project focused on creating a cohesive story across product design and detail page visuals, centered around the Crayon Shin-chan collaboration.
Rather than a simple character tie-in, the theme—Shin-chan’s Great Rescue Mission for Damaged Hair—was developed to emphasize the Perfect Serum’s core value of damage care.
To build this narrative, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the Crayon Shin-chan universe and created an engaging story in which Shin-chan and Action Mask defeat Buriburizaemon, the villain causing hair damage.
From the initial planning phase, we worked to seamlessly align Shin-chan’s unique charm with the brand’s message.










Design Concept
The design centered on the planned theme, featuring dynamic assets of Shin-chan and Action Mask, the frightened Buriburizaemon, and Shiro—an essential, lovable character in the Shin-chan universe.
The battle-style layout, combined with energetic character assets and cloud graphics, enhanced the visual impact in line with the ‘Rescue Mission’ theme.
For the special edition package, we used the first page from the well-known Sketchbook Episode, adding a sense of familiarity for Shin-chan fans.
We also created a Korean font inspired by Shin-chan’s title typeface to reflect the playful tone of the animation headlines, and incorporated each character’s signature color into the product design for visual harmony.
The three-product lineup was designed with a consistent layout to present the items as a cohesive collaboration set.
We carefully arranged the package text for clear communication of product and gift details.
The gifts were designed to be intuitive and collectible, with visual continuity from the main theme to provide consumers with a memorable, unified experience.












Web & Contents Design
We planned the content using 2D graphics of the Shin-chan character to effectively convey both his unique personality and the charm of the Perfect Serum.
While many character collaborations use physical figures or 3D goods in their visuals, we determined that Shin-chan’s charm is most familiar and approachable in 2D.
Real-life goods or 3D images couldn’t fully capture his signature appeal, so we photographed the product alone and overlaid Shin-chan’s 2D graphic assets.
This allowed consumers to naturally associate the product with Shin-chan’s familiar imagery.
The headline design—used in both online purchase environments and offline VMD—was inspired by Crayon Shin-chan movie posters. The headline text, which serves as the overarching title for the collaboration theme, was created using generative AI. By evoking the feel of a new Shin-chan season, we developed key visuals that combined consistency with the character’s universe and the charm of the brand, rather than following a typical character collaboration mood.
